Food is okay. Great for Ames Iowa. Menu is totally confusing. Pricey for the area. However, we're from Chicago so we're very spoiled by the excellent Asian food at home.

Love this food. Don’t let the appearance of the restaurant keep you from enjoying the best tasting Asian food in Ames. Definitely my favorite fried rice. If Asians eat here religiously then it’s a good bet.

In all the years of knowing this restaurant existed my family and I was very impressed I've never been there before but now that we live close by we decided to try it out for the 1st time definitely will be going back again..the portions of food you receive were so fulfilling we have leftovers for lunch..Thank you to the awesome girl who took our order and the older gentleman who made sure we had everything we needed

Meh, food was sparse and bland tasting, even with hot peppers and soy sauce, way too much watercress. Service is fast and friendly though, usually cars in parking lot.

Great place for quality (and quantity) Chinese food. The owners are kind and extremely helpful for first timers. They truly care about serving you a good meal. Lots of options for traditional Chinese food and classic favorite like sweet and sour or sesame. Dine in or carry out!

This place is completely not worth it at all. The chefs know almost nothing about Chinese food. The only reason the food comes out so fast is probably because it’s microwaved! There is nothing too special about this place.

This was my first time ordering from here. I'd heard good things from others. The price, service, and food portions were comparable to other restaurants. I ordered cashew chicken to go. It was almost tasteless. I ended up adding a significant amount of soy sauce to the meal to make it edible. The egg roll was good; the sweet & sour sauce with it was different and also slightly bland. I was very disappointed and highly doubt there will be a return visit. Save your time and money and go pretty much anywhere else.

I regularly eat here, good food and lots of different/authentic options here. Think they're a cash only place, nice even amounts $10 a plate, which I think is a good value for tasty food. I don't think there's been anything I haven't liked, but others might not like some dishes depending on palette preferences.Free self serve hot tea as well!

May House has been my go to Chinese restaurant for the past couple months. They have a variety of Chinese food that taste great and offer competitive prices for college students. Would highly recommend their Mustard Pork.

Ordered carry out allowed 25 minutes Showed up 35 minutes later and wasn't ready. Servings are well portioned. But the taste seasoning was bland. Beef lo mein. Sweet and Sour Chicken same. Crab ragoon over deep fried to Crispy brown. If I had to choose another location. Bottom line Yes.

I ordered the Yu-Xiang eggplant and vegetarian egg rolls. Such delicious food!!! Flavourful, yet seems like it's made at home. The ambience is good! Cash only though.

Not what I expected, will not be back.

The place is open till midnight which is great! The lady (who I think also runs the place) is super nice and offers great suggestions. The food is inexpensive considering the quality and quantity. May's Chicken is our favourite. Great place for students I would say.

That place is a staple when it comes to the chinese restaurants in Amers. Every time I visit, I HAVE to eat here. Cannot beat the traditional Chinese dishes!!!!

Nice food!!

The food was delicious and seemed very authentic. It is not a fancy dining experience. You order off a board at the counter. The prices were reasonable and the staff helped us pick out something. We will definitely return. This is probably the best Chinese food in Ames.

Not bad

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Ames, Iowa. Try the roast pork off the specials menu and ask for an extra egg.

The special chicken was fantastic! Service was friendly, and my toddler loved the fish pond. We enjoyed our time.

Food taste great with reasonable price.

Went here not knowing what to expect but needed to eat after spending time at a grad ceremony. Good Chinese food for the price. It was nice because it wasn’t too busy to where we couldn’t find a seat.

I have dined here enough to know that my search for that specific taste has been quenched. That food is amazing. So hot when served, ya better visually take it in for a bit fore ya take it in. So good. Great portions what else can you ask for? Real deal.

5 star food, 3 star atmosphere. The have traditional dishes and authentic Chinese cuisine. Hot chili oil fish is the best!

VERY IMPORTANT: CASH ONLY.I ordered takeout and liked it! The man who answered my call could improve his phone manners, but I wanted Chinese food and I got it. The building has years of character, and the prices aren't bad. The take out serving sizes are very generous; one order is almost too much for one person.

This place is hands down the best chinese restaurant in town. Have you been stressed out by finals or school in general head to May House for all the comfort food your heart desires. This place serves your food on gold plates with the service of Greek Goddesses. If only this food could pay bills I would have my life long partner. And all yours for only $8. Make sure you have cash because no other food deserves a stupid credit card or check. Straight hard earned American currency is the only thing they accept.
